Our second Awards Ceremony and Party Night was held Friday 28th November at The Grange, Grange Moor, Wakefield. We open the doors to the riders at 7pm for the Awards Presentation at 8pm. We had 12 riders waiting to leave with a trophy for their hard work and achievement over the past year of competition.
I was really nervous on the run up to presenting the Awards but thankfully not as bad as last year when I couldnt hold the paper still to read out the names for shaking! I only got a little wobble when reading out the Achievement Award as it was a bit emotional and didnt want to spoil it for the winner. I know its had to believe that I struggle to talk!!!
The deserving winners of the 2008 prizes were
1st place C.E Dressage Group Non - Member - Nadine Hilton.
I had said that I wasnt going to give a non member prize but Nadine had done so well getting over 160 points that she had gained the most out of all the riders and felt this deserved some recognition.

2nd place C.E Dressage Group Senior Member - Tracey Hamilton
Second place went to Tracey Hamilton as did the rug for been Preliminary Champion at the show. Tracey had racked up over 100 points but not quite knocking our winner off the top spot but she has made a good start on the 2009 points league.

1st place C.E Dressage Group Senior Member - Amanda Crozier
A consistent partnership with Chester for the past 12 months claimed her the victory of the winners accolade.
Image:
An emotional moment for the winner of the 2008 Achievement Award as I was carefully reading an example of why the winner was chosen. I felt that it would be nice if others knew why C.E Dressage had made the choice for the winner.

Amanda Crozier was our winner for 2008.

Once the awards and thanks were all given away and Asda had sold out of flowers to all our family at different times during the day I asked everyone to take down the balloons that was on the tables and put their name and telephone number on them as we were going onto the balcony to let them go. After a helium casualty last year we thought that health and safety beckoned and we were better letting them go before everyone had consumed too much alcohol and developed the need to talk like Donald Duck! So far Megans balloon has got the furthest - to Flockton!

Once all the balloons were released it was time to tuck in to the grub.

Sarah Greenwood had put together a raffle for Phoenix Aid which she is very involved with - the raffle raised £60, thank you to everyone who bought tickets.
It was pleasurable to chat with some people who I dont normally get to speak to at competitions as time just takes over and also the families who dont normally attend competitions.
Thanks to Lynne for doing our pictures - thats why she isnt on any of them - we will get you next year!
Joseph, who everyone knows from the competitions was shown up when he was dragged onto the dance floor. Joseph and Max as you may remember from last years party were like the terrible two but both were a really big help when it came to the presentation passing me the awards - if you have got a trophy with the wrong number on - I will send Joseph and Max to see you!

We enjoyed socialising and dancing until late before all back to our normal clothes and mucking out Saturday morning with a few hangovers I suspect!! ???
Well done to all riders, we are looking for a change of venue for next year more toward Leeds area as this may be more central for people and maybe move to a Saturday night ? Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.
